About The Job
With the yellow Golden Arches being the only visible connection to a McDonald’s Restaurant from the past, this Urangan store was only the second of this new design concept built in Australia.
Constructed during an extremely tight build time, the project was handed over on time despite a two week delay caused by site readiness and access conditions beyond our control.
Brick facing tiles mounted on Zincalume folded metal rails, Exotec fibre cement and timber cladding combine to form a brash exterior, brightened even more by eye-catching McDonald’s signature red features.
Continuing the building exterior’s commercial, almost minimalistic style the interior holds an industrial-themed appearance. The semi exposed roof trusses, perforated Craftwood features and dark coloured ceiling panels add to the warehouse look. Drawing upon extensive construction experience, our Company was heavily involved in the design of this complex ceiling, with the subsequent result being both structurally interesting and aesthetically pleasing.
The mixed use of materials is continued with the internal walls. Brick facing tiles add textural interest whilst the American Ash timber wall panels and ceramic wall tiles provide a practical, easy to clean surfaces.
Vintage bare bulb pendants combine with unobtrusive down lights to illuminate the Dining areas. The soft but effective light cast provides ambiance and demarcation from the brightly lit Sales Counters and food preparation areas beyond.
In line with McDonald’s recent innovative direction, the restaurant includes an Eye Play system. An electronic version of a large, floor mounted games board projected from the ceiling keeps younger patrons entertained.
Murchie Constructions are extremely pleased to successfully hand over this project to our valued Clients, McDonald’s Australia. Being able to deliver this new concept store with our distinctive level of quality is certainly an achievement for our entire Company.
